While completing her graduate degree in applied linguistics through Trinity Western University, Karyn studied French in Quebec and France. From there she spent several years as part of a field research team in Cameroon, Africa that carried out sociolinguistic surveys of previously unstudied language groups. Upon returning to Canada, she researched dialect differences of the Cree language in Saskatchewan.
After finishing that contract, she earned a master’s degree in library studies at the University of Alberta, and since 2012 has worked in administration in various departments at the University of Alberta.
Karyn has spent several years as a horsemanship volunteer with a therapeutic riding association in Edmonton, and is involved in other community programs. She enjoys travel, riding horses, and being part of the amazing PEER team.
